Each year, MountainWest Capital Network (MWCN) recognizes a Utah business executive who has built a successful Utah-based company, inspiring others to participate in the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship. The MWCN Entrepreneur of the Year Award is unique because it celebrates those that give back to the state.
The MWCN 36th annual Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be presented to David S. Layton, President & CEO of Layton Construction.

MWCN Deal Flow Event
The MountainWest Capital Network 29th Annual Deal Flow Event and Report make an invaluable contribution to the community by reporting transactions and recognizing Utah Deal Makers.
Transactions included in the report are:
- Private Offerings, including SPAC’s;
- Private Placements, including Venture Capital, Private Equity and Angel Investments
- Mergers and Acquisitions; and
- A highlight of Capital Providers in Utah

As the CEO and Co-Founder of Thrive Freeze Dry, Steve leads the global freeze-drying industry with over 19 years of entrepreneurial experience and expertise.
He co-founded Thrive Freeze Dry in 2004 to specialize in freeze drying high-value ingredients for the food and beverage industry and grew it to become the market leader with multiple patents and contracts. Steve has a passion for innovation, sustainability,
and quality in the food sector, and graduated from the Owner President Management program at Harvard Business School, holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and received a BA in Business Administration and Management from Utah State University.
He has solid skills in new business development, marketing, and strategic leadership, and values collaboration, diversity, and impact. He is excited to be a part of an organization that shares the vision fueling life’s important moments.
