Each year, MountainWest Capital Network recognizes a Utah business executive who has built a successful Utah-based company, inspiring others to participate in the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship. This year, MWCN is excited to announce Josh James, Founder & CEO, Domo as the recipient of the 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Josh James launched Domo in 2011 to help CEOs and other leaders change the way they do business and obtain value from the tens of billions of dollars that’s been spent on business intelligence (BI) systems. Before founding Domo, he was the co-founder and CEO of Omniture, Inc., which he co-founded in 1996 and took public in 2006; and from 2006-2009, he was the youngest CEO running a publicly traded company.
Omniture was the number one returning venture investment out of 1,008 venture capital investments in 2004, as well as the number two performing technology IPO of 2006. Omniture was also the fastest or second fastest-growing public company for three consecutive years. Josh later facilitated Adobe’s acquisition of Omniture in October 2009.
He was named 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Brigham Young University’s Technology Entrepreneur of the Decade, and was also recognized by FORTUNE magazine as one of its "40 Under 40” top business executives in 2009. Josh is on the boards of United Way; Utah Symphony; Demand Media, a NYSE-traded company; and Rakuten, a publicly traded, five billion dollar revenue company that is the leading e-commerce company in Japan. Josh is married and has six daughters.
